DAMAGING west to northwesterly winds averaging 60 to 70km/h with peak gusts of 90km/h are likely near the coast and also over elevated areas (above 800 metres) of Victoria, including the Grampians, the Otway Ranges and Strzelecki Ranges.
DAMAGING WINDS with gusts to 90km/h may extend inland over the southwest for a period during this afternoon, most likely with any passing showers or thunderstorms.
BLIZZARD conditions are likely over Alpine areas with heavy snowfalls, particularly this afternoon and evening.
Whilst some easing is expected by this evening, there is the the risk of further DAMAGING WINDS during the weekend, mainly over coastal and Alpine areas.
Locations which may be affected include Hamilton, Warrnambool, Portland, Wonthaggi, Falls Creek and Omeo.
