This Moderate Flood Warning is being issued for Genoa River.

Moderate flooding possible along the Genoa river from late Wednesday morning

Moderate to heavy rainfall since Tuesday over the East Gippsland rivers has caused significant rises.Further moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast over the East Gippsland catchments during Wednesday.

Minor flooding has developed along the Genoa River, where further rises and moderate flooding is possible from late Wednesday morning. 

Genoa River:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Genoa River.

The Genoa River at The Gorge is currently at 2.02 m and rising, above the minor flood level (1.90 metres). The Genoa River at The Gorge may reach around the moderate flood level (2.20 metres) late Wednesday morning.Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
Prepare for flooding now. Take actions to protect your life and property against potential hazards caused by flooding.


What you should do:

If you choose to leave: 
  • Remember to take your pets, mobile phone, spare clothes and medications.
  • Travel to the home of family or friends who are in a safe location, away from flooding.
  • Turn off gas and electricity at your home or workplace.
  • Be aware of any road closures when you leave.

If you are travelling:
  • Do not enter flooded areas. Turn around a find a safe alternative route.
  • Be aware of road hazards including mud, debris and damaged roads or bridges.
  • Floodwater is dangerous - never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.

Impacts in your area:
  • Mallacoota-Genoa Road may be impacted due to floodwater. For more information on road closures go to www.traffic.transport.vic.gov.au.
