This Flood Watch
is being issued for the Yarra River downstream of Coldstream
Minor flooding is possible from Friday afternoon in the catchments of the flood watch area.
A complex low pressure system will track across Victoria during the remainder of Thursday. The system will move to the east overnight with a southeast low moving slowly over Bass Strait and Tasmania during Friday.
Catchments in the flood watch area are wet. In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Thursday widespread rainfall totals of 10-25 mm were recorded in catchments of the flood watch area.
Widespread rainfall totals of 15 to 30 mm (isolated 40 mm with thunderstorm) are expected in the Upper Yarra and Latrobe catchments for the remainder of Thursday, with 5-15 mm in Gippsland and less than 10 mm (isolated 15 mm with thunderstorm) in the North East. For Friday and Saturday, totals of 20-40 mm(isolated 50 mm) are forecast for the Upper Yarra, Latrobe and Otways, and 5-15 for the rest of the floodwatch area.
