This Advice message is being issued for Chetwynd, Connewirricoo, Edenhope, Kadnook, Powers Creek
  • It is Safe to Return for people who evacuated due to the bushfire at Casterton-Edenhope Road, Kadnook. 
  • All roads in the area are now open.
  • Friday and Saturday are expected to be hot, which may result in increased fire activity. Firefighters are continuing to monitor the fire and strengthen control lines.
  • Trees can be extremely dangerous when impacted by bushfire or high winds. Avoid standing, parking or travelling in areas of fire affected trees.
  • A Community Meeting for residents and landholders affected by the Kadnook Fire will be held 6:00pm Friday 22nd November at the Kadnook Fire station. 
The threat is reduced and it is now safe for you to return to your home or land.
What you should do: 
  • Stay alert - be aware of hazards caused by the fire. 
  • Be aware of road hazards such as fallen trees and any road closures. 
  • Check your home or building for damage before you re-enter. 
  • If you have any questions about recovering from this fire, you should contact West Wimmera Shire Council on 139972.

  • Emergency services will remain in the area.
  • Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads.

Members of the public can report sick, injured or orphaned native animals found anywhere across the state to Wildlife Victoria's 24/7 wildlife emergency response service on (03) 8400 7300.

If your property has been impacted by fire or storms and you have urgent animal welfare needs, please contact the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226. Our animal health team will assess livestock and provide advice to support your property's recovery.
