This Advice message is being issued for Grantville, Pioneer Bay, St Helier, The Gurdies, Woodleigh.

  • This Advice replaces the Watch and Act issued at 12.23pm
  • There is a bushfire at The Gurdies Nature Conservation Reserve that is not yet under control.
  • Due to favourable weather conditions on Saturday 21 December fire activity has reduced with no significant fire spread today.
  • Work has been undertaken to create control lines around the fire and to extinguish any hot spots.  This work will continue for the next few days.
What you should do: 

  • The relief centre that was in place at Wonthaggi Aquatic and Leisure Centre *YMCA) has now closed.
  • Monitor weather conditions and warnings. 
  • Review your fire survival plan. 
  • If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes.
Impacts in your area: 
  • Emergency services will remain in the area. 
  • Bulldozers and aircraft are operating in the area.
  • Check the VicTraffic website (traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au/) or call 13 11 70 for road closures.
