This Advice message is being issued for areas of the Grampians National Park affected by fire.
  • The status of the bushfire in the Grampians National Park is now Under Control.
  • This Advice message replaces the Advice message issued at 3.03pm Thursday 16 January.
  • Firefighters and heavy machinery continue to monitor hotspots, treat hazardous trees, clear tracks and rehabilitate control lines.
  • Small areas of smoke within the containment area may be visible.
 
Many popular sites in the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park are open, however areas affected by fire are closed as they remain extremely dangerous. Fines may apply if you are found behind road and walking track closures.

Halls Gap and surrounding towns are open. Businesses and the community are welcoming visitors back to the area.

There is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and plan for what you will do if the situation changes.

  • Monitor weather conditions and warnings. 
  • Drive with caution. Obey road closure signs.  
  • Visitors are reminded to be cautious of ongoing risks and changes to the environment which may include fallen or damaged trees, smoke and injured wildlife.
