  • There is a bushfire at Wonnangatta Valley that is not yet under control.
  • The fire remains active and has grown to over 1500 hectares.
  • The fire is burning in remote and innaccessible country. 
  • This Advice replaces the Advice Message issued at 6.00 pm 7/03/2025
There is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and plan for what you will do if the situation changes. 
What you should do: 
  • Monitor weather conditions and warnings. 
  • Watch for emergency response teams and follow their directions.
Impacts in your area: 
Aircraft, bulldozers and other firefighting machinery are operating in the area.

All access to the Wonnangatta Valley is closed, including the following:
  • Zeka Spur Track
  • Herne Spur Track
  • Wonnangatta Track between Herne Spur and Rileys Track
  • Humphrey River Track south of Wombat Range
If visiting, choose alternative destinations. 

You will see smoke in the area which can affect your health. If you are experience any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, seek medical advice or call NURSE-ON-CALL on 1300 60 60 24.
