This Community Information message is being issued for Barkers Creek, Dog Rocks Saddle, Faraday, Harcourt, Harcourt North, Ravenswood South, Sutton Grange, Walmer
  • The grassfire and bushfire that started from Fogartys Gap Road, Ravenswood South is under control.
  • It is now safe to return to the area, however, Mount Alexander Regional Park will remain closed.
  • Firefighters will remain in the area to monitor activity in impacted communities and Mount Alexander Regional Park.
  • There is a livestream community meeting scheduled for today, 19 January 2026, at 3.00pm. This will be available from the Mount Alexander Shire Council Facebook page. 
Other Information:
  • Some roads remain closed and will begin to open as Mount Alexander Shire Council completes assessments. 
  • For the most current road closures, check the VicTraffic website (traffic.transport.vic.gov.au) or call 13 11 70 for road closures.

  • A Recovery Hub is open at the Castlemaine Town Hall, 25 Lyttleton Street, open daily from 11:00am to 5:00pm until further notice by Mount Alexander Shire Council.

  • Refer to the Emergency Recovery Victoria flyer which includes a variety of relief and recovery supports after January 2026 fires.
