This message is being issued for the Great Ocean Road from Kennett River to Lorne
  • The immediate threat of flash flooding has passed.
  • Dangerous hazards including mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees are still present. 
  • Crews are monitoring roads and bridges. Drive to the conditions. Follow directions from emergency services and traffic management.

Floodwater and debris, avoid contact with water from Lorne to Kennett River. 
  • Water quality may be impacted from Lorne to Kennett River on the Great Ocean Road. The EPA have been undertaking water quality testing.   
  • Avoid contact with floodwater and debris. 
  • Do not let pets swim in or drink the water. 
  • When cleaning up, wear protective equipment like gloves, goggles and rubber boots and wipe down hands and surfaces thoroughly. 

There is no immediate threat to the community but hazards may still be present in the warning area. 
Impacts in your area.
  • The Great Ocean Road has reopened between Lorne and Skenes Creek. Cumberland Bridge has been partially opened with traffic management in place. Slow down and drive with caution. The Department of Transport and Planning is regularly inspecting the bridge.
  • Wye River Pedestrian Bridge remains closed.
  • Cumberland River Holiday Park remains closed. Park management will contact guests directly.
  • Parts of the Great Otway National Park remain closed. Parks Victoria are inspecting and repairing damaged areas. Visit https://www.parks.vic.gov.au for the latest information on park closures.
  • Agencies are currently working with Land Managers and Traditional Owners on the safe recovery of vehicles at Cumberland River and Wye River.
