This message is being issued for the Great Ocean Road from Kennett River to Lorne.
The immediate
threat of flash flooding has passed.
A planned recovery operation will take place at Wye River and Cumberland River on Thursday 22 January to remove flood-impacted vehicles from beach areas.
Temporary closures of the Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Skenes Creek will be in place from approximately 6:30 am tomorrow, Thursday 22 January, to support safe operations with activity expected to conclude by around 10:30 am, subject to weather and operational conditions. Visitors to the area are encouraged to continue to visit townships including Lorne with inland detours available.
Exclusion zones will be established around the operation areas at Wye River beach and Cumberland River, and members of the public will not be able to access these locations while aircraft are operating. These measures are necessary to keep the community and emergency responders safe.
Hazards including mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees may still be present.
When cleaning up, wear protective equipment
like gloves, goggles and rubber boots and wipe down hands and surfaces
thoroughly.
