This Advice message is being issued for Abbeyard, Howitt Plains, Mount Buller, Rose River, Wabonga, Wonnangatta.
  • There is a bushfire at The Razor, Alpine National Park that is not yet under control.
  • The fire is expanding to the north and south.
  • Firefighters and aircraft are actively working to suppress the fire.
  • This fire is part of the greater Wonnangatta - Dargo Complex.
  • This Advice replaces the Advice issued at 12.48 pm, Wednesday 21st January 2026.
There is currently no threat to communities, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
What you should do: 
  • Monitor weather conditions and warnings. 
  • Stay out of the area.
  • Review your fire survival plan. 
  • If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes.
Impacts in your area: 
  • Aircraft are operating in the area.
  • Smoke will be visible from nearby communities and roads. 
  • Walking tracks, vehicle tracks and roads have been closed in the warning area.
The Alpine National Park is closed South East of Burnt Top Track and Wild Horse Gap Track.

The following roads are closed:
  • Wild Horse Gap Track
  • Abbeyard Road (south of Rose River Road)  
  • Lake Cobbler Road 
  • Speculation Road
Check the VicTraffic website (traffic.transport.vic.gov.au) or call 13 11 70 for road closures.
  • The Alpine National Park is closed South East of Burnt Top Track.
