This Minor Flood Warning is being issued for the Goulburn River Seymour to Shepparton.

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT SHEPPARTON EARLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Moderate rainfall since Monday has caused river and creek level rises in the Goulburn River catchment. The main flood peak is now approaching Shepparton, where minor flooding is likely from early Sunday afternoon.

The Goulburn River at Murchison is currently at 8.31m and falling, below the minor flood level. The Goulburn River at Murchison is expected to remain below the minor flood level (9.00m).

The Goulburn River at Shepparton is currently at 9.45 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Goulburn River at Shepparton is likely to exceed the minor flood level (9.50m) early Sunday afternoon. The river may peak near 9.70 m overnight Sunday into Monday, with minor flooding.

What you should do: 
  • Campers in the vicinity of the bushland between Shepparton & Mooroopna, Raftery Track, Kialla and Commons Track, Mooroopna should relocate as campsites and access tracks may become indundated and / or isolated.
  • Farmers should consider moving livestock and machinery to higher ground.
  • Floodwater is dangerous - never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.
  • Be prepared to act if your situation changes.
  • Stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings.

Impacts in your area: 
  • As floodwater moves along the Goulburn River from the Seymour area, and further rainfall is forecast during Friday into Saturday, river levels in the Goulburn River will start to rise.
For Murchison:
  • Floodwater on low-lying rural properties upstream and downstream of Murchison
  • Floodwater may flow through the Police Paddocks and reach the end of Watson Street near Charles Lane
  • Floodwater may reach the caravan area behind the ovals at the recreation reserve on River Road. 
For Toolamba:
  • Tracks in the forested areas west of Goulburn River, such as Steves Track are likely to be flooded by Saturday morning. 
For Kialla:
  • Road Closures are in place at: Watt Rd, Raftery Rd between Edgewater Rd & Seven Creek Drive, Mitchell Rd between GV Highway & Archer Road.
  • low bridges may be underwater.     
  • Parks, tracks and campgrounds may be closed due to flooding.
