East Gippsland Fires 2019-20

Fires continue to burn in East Gippsland. Residents and property owners are returning to many communities. A number of regional communities in East Gippsland and North East are open and welcoming visitors. Before you travel into the area you must check VicTraffic to ensure your route is safe to travel on https://traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au/.

Public safety is our top priority, so we ask for your patience as we get this work done.

Recovery centres 

The following recovery centres are open: 

  • Bairnsdale Bushfire Recovery Centre – 24 Service Street, Bairnsdale (Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, Saturday 9am – 1pm)
  • Mallacoota District Health Centre - Corner Genoa Road and Mattsson Street, Mallacoota (10am – 4pm) 

These are a one-stop point of contact for bushfire-related enquiries.  

Mobile Recovery pop-up sessions

Locations listed below are not limited to people from these communities. Please visit the Mobile Recovery session that is closest to you.

Meetings below are subject to change due to weather conditions. 

Monday 24 February

Marlo – adjacent to Marlo General Store, Argyle Parade, 10.30am to 12.30pm

Wairewa – community hall, 2pm to 3.30pm

Tuesday 25 February 

Combienbar – community hall, 11am to 1pm

Thursday 27 February 

Genoa – community hall, 4pm to 5.30pm

Friday 28 February

Benambra – community hall, 11am to 1pm

 

Financial hardship assistance points

  • Mallacoota – Mallacoota District Health & Support Service, Corner Mattsson Street and Genoa Road, Mallacoota (10am – 4pm)
  • Bairnsdale – 24 Service Street, Bairnsdale (Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm, Saturday 9am – 1pm)
