Victorians prepare for a day of storm and fire risk

Total Fire Bans and Extreme Fire Danger Ratings have been declared for Central, North Central and South West fire districts today. Further to the potential fire risk, storms moving across the state may  bring damaging winds and heavy rainfall, both before and after the change.

With record numbers of users using the VicEmergency app, some users are experiencing issues, where the app is not loading on their device. In some cases, The issue may be intermittent, and disconnecting from Wi-Fi may help. We are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

People are advised to use the VicEmergency website if they experience any issues with the app.

This is a timely reminder to never rely on one source of emergency information. Emergency information can also be accessed via the VicEmergency website, VicEmergency hotline (1800 226 226), emergency broadcasters such as ABC Radio and SkyNews, social media channels such as Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter), and ensuring the Emergency Alert number +61 444 444 444 is not blocked.

Victorians are reminded to always have more than one source of information, including:

  • The VicEmergency app
  • The VicEmergency website www.emergency.vic.gov.au
  • Emergency broadcasters such as ABC local radio, commercial and select community radio stations, or SkyNews
  • The VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226
